Registration is now open for the upcoming workshop:
Practical design and simulation to optimise distance sampling surveys.
This will be run on 10th, 11th and 13th March 2025 at 12:30-1430 GMT. The registration deadline is 28th February 2025
Overview
Good survey design is critical for obtaining reliable results in distance sampling surveys and meeting survey objectives. This workshop expands on the basic theory provided in our introductory workshops to demonstrate how our latest software can be used to generate optimal survey designs for individual circumstances while respecting budgetary and logistical constraints. The workshop is designed to be interactive in format, with a chance for participants to discuss their own design problems. The workshop will be delivered using video conferencing via Teams software along with exercises in R.
Workshop dates and time: 10, 11 & 13 February 2025; 1230-1430 GMT.
Instructors
The workshop instructors are:
- Laura Marshall - author of the survey design R package and research software engineer on the Distance software development project
- Len Thomas - lead of the Distance software development project
Both instructors have taught numerous successful workshops on distance sampling, including on survey design.
